Hillary Clinton concedes to Donald Trump

A gracious Hillary Clinton choked back tears and called on President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday to be “a President for all Americans” before a crestfallen crowd.

“I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country,” Clinton said in a 12-minute concession speech at the New Yorker hotel in which tears welled up in her eyes.

“This is painful, and it will be for a long time.

“We have seen that the nation is more divided than we thought,” she added.

Wearing a purple suit and showing few signs of bitterness at her stunning defeat, Clinton teared up as she spoke directly to the women who supported her.

“To all the women, and especially the young women…nothing has made prouder than to be your champion,” she said.

“We have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling but someday someone will, and hopefully sooner than we think.”

She sought to inspire those disturbed by her rival’s many disparaging remarks about women.
