Reverend Doctor Danielle L. Brown, Senior Pastor of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Mayor Adrian O. Mapp of the City of Plainfield and Crystal Orr, Interim President & CEO of the Urban League of Union County, and support from a grant provided by the Plainfield Cultural & Heritage Commission have collaborated to kick off Black History Month. They have partnered to sponsor R.I.S.E. (Real Inspiration Leads to Successful Endeavors) Black Business Owner’s Expo. The event will take place at Shiloh on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 11:00a.m. – 2:30p.m.

All who are interested in starting a business, networking with successful Black business owners and entrepreneurs or just browsing for a great buy are welcome.

You won’t want to miss this special line-up of guest presenters. Dr. Alfred E. Blake, IV the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Entrepreneurship for Rutgers University will be the key note speaker. He will discuss how to start a business. Ms. Adenah Bayon, owner of several IHOP Restaurants, two Corn Bread Restaurants and a $250 million dollar Redevelopment portfolio (and more), Ms. Erica Bell, award winning Certified Career & Life Coach and Ms. Stephanie Torres, recent start up business owner, will be part of a panel discussion on inspiring ownership, tips, lessons learned and the motivation to stay in business. The panel begins at 12:30pm.

Thirty successful business owners and entrepreneurs will be exhibiting there products and services. Be sure to come prepared to purchase any of the phenomenal items that they will present. This is an opportunity to talk with them one on one too!

Black business owners from many eras will be featured in a limited “gallery” display, a number of door prizes and grab and go snacks will be available while they last. The event is free and open to the public. COVID19 Safety Protocols will be followed. MASKS required at all times. .
