Stolen Land

Allow me to explain

From the magnanimous stage of The Grammys, Billie Eilish used this platform to say that no one was illegal on stolen land. I thank her for that. While it was good to hear in a moment when she was entitled to shine in the glory of her award, she chose to say those words. Every time I have heard it or read it in other instances, I feel the need to clarify especially when reactions range from annoyance to those that fall in the ‘get over it’ column.
America is on stolen land. That’s not meant to be a protest mantra, slogan, bumper sticker or guilt thing. None of that is the point or of use. It is a matter of fact. And its not as if this fact isn’t bad enough, it is the morbid process by which the crime has been covered up. A cover-up that authorized a convoluted identity of mythical entitled supremacy. An identity of supremacy that has defined the American rationale, its esteem, its personality, its method of existence. It has been maintained over generations right up to this point where a now convicted felon who was also adjudicated of sexual assault is in the White House again. And where again, there is talk of land invasion moving on Greenland. And where again, the psychopathy of entitled criminality justifies invasions of The Ukraine, war crimes committed against Gaza and now American cities.
Everything hitting the fan right now was done with permission by way of an unspoken will of the American mindset. America allowed everything to happen in its bound and gagged state. If we don’t undo what got us here, everything will repeat.
Marauding invasions and pillaging behaviors from that original 500 plus year-old mob hit continued through generations of raids, threat, beatings, torture, murder and unspeakable savagery by lynch mobs, vigilantes, militias, and gangs – some with police badges others wearing sheets and still others now under the official capacity of federal agencies. Like ICE.
In a show of force in October of 2024, armed and masked neo-Nazis showed up in Lincoln Heights, Ohio to stand on a bridge “vetting” the presence of passers by and stopping cars in the name of protecting the area. This neo-Nazi group was reported to have had police protection as they carried out their mission. We have witnessed more recently the torture, human rights violation and straight up murder. What, you thought if you didn’t look, know about or didn’t give a damn about the historic repeated pattern of massacred of babies, children, elders and men and women in the way of profit or power that it would go away? Or that this rationale wouldn’t eventually come to eviscerate the mythical bubble that is cherished as the American ideal? The dependency on entitled domination and control has eliminated the possibility of being anything close to an authentic democracy governed by ‘the people’ upholding any damn rule of law.
This repeated pattern of protected terror and domination is rooted in America’s beginnings and has spawned decades of morbid systemic oppression. That is the point.
America is on stolen land and we are now in the midst of an inherited situation. The power of our human wiring for altruistic interdependence is stronger than false perversions. We are good and we can endure like those blades of grass that push through cracked concrete. The only way to establish ‘the people’ as the authority of a true democracy is to end the morbid presence of systemic oppression and make a decision about our direction.
