A Rehabilitation Renaissance at Harlem Center
Head east down tree lined W. 138th street and you’ll find the new pinnacle of rehabilitative and nursing care, Harlem Center. Formerly known as Greater Harlem Nursing Home, the Harlem Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation has undergone a compete transformation in an effort to provide our community with the best care, technology, treatment methods, and staff available.
On November 10th, Harlem Center held a grand re-opening to celebrate the completion of their state-of-the-art rehabilitation suite. Guests were led through the brand new suite which boasts all of the latest rehabilitation technology available, including a NASA-designed treadmill known as the Alter-G for those recovering from injury, joint replacement surgery, or stroke. Across the room, is a completely furnished kitchen and bedroom for those that may need assistance or re-training in their activities of daily living skills. From here, the attendees were ushered into the recreation room which had been transformed into a prohibition-era speakeasy. Guests enjoyed light refreshments and delicious hors d’oeuvres from the one and only Sylvia’s which was all organized with the assistance of the Harlem Chamber of Commerce. The Corcoran Holt band provided the perfect vibe for the evening and impressed the crowd with each smooth note they delivered.
