The Pillar College Panthers took first place this weekend at the NCTTA (National Collegiate Table Tennis Association) Pennsylvania district tournament on Saturday, January 26 at Penn State. Team member Kaden Xu, currently ranked 3rd in the nation, took first place in the singles event with teammate, Charlie Jiang, placing 2nd. The Pillar team beat formidable foes including the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State, Rowan and University of Pennsylvania. The team, which placed fourth in the nation in 2018, is coached by former Olympian Lily Yip.
The recent competition marked the team’s second victory at the district level for the 2018-2019 season and positions them to automatically advance to the regional tournament in North Carolina in March.
