A film produced by AACCNJ Chamber member Chris Daniel (Daniel Productions) recently won in the “Best Documentary” Category of the 2021 NJ Film Festival. The film called “The WBGO Story…Bright Moments from Newark to the World” will be screened this week at the Garden State Film Festival Thursday March 25th. The documentary focuses on WBGO’s early years, including interviews with station founder Bob Ottenhoff and NEA Jazz Master Dorthaan Kirk (Widow of Multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk). The film tells the story of how a diverse group of urban leaders and community activists looking to make a positive change in Newark, NJ came together to create WBGO, New Jersey’s first public radio station. You can view the film virtually or live at the Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ.
