Mariners’ Temple: Celebrating228 Years of Baptist Worship
Built Upon a Solid Rock of Faith, the theme of the 228th anniversary awards luncheon at Mariners’ Temple Baptist Church in Manhattan brought together congregants and church leaders. Founded in 1795, the landmark church proudly stands as the oldest site of continuous Baptist worship on Manhattan Island.
At the first in-person anniversary celebration since the start of the pandemic, Senior Pastor Reverend Dr. Henrietta Carter welcomed guest preacher DeWitt Reformed Church Pastor Rev. Dr. Micheal Edwards.
Among the awardees, Minister Cynthia Gardner-Brim received a special, surprise Pillar of Community Award. Other awardees included: Rising Leader Sister Tiffany Hecker and Legacy Awards to Sister Marie Bright, Deacon Evelyn Brim, Brother Ruben Fargas, and Sister Barbara Hardy.
