Living Legend Honorees L-R: Bloomfield College Women’s Basketball Head Coach Vanessa Watson, Restaurateur and Entrepreneur Adenah Bayoh, Elizabeth Councilwoman Patricia Perkins-Auguste, Civil Rights Activist Lawrence Hamm, Interfaith Clergy Alliance Bishop Ronald Jones, Rev. Linda Jefferson, Rev. Dr. David Jefferson Sr., Newark Councilwoman Rev. Louise Scott-Rountree, Urban League of Essex County President/CEO Vivian Cox Fraser, and The Positive Community Publisher Adrian Council, Seated: former Newark Councilmember Hon. Mildred C. Crump

Pastor David and Rev. Linda Jefferson, Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark and its African American Cultural Ministry hosted its First Annual Newark Living Legends Luncheon on April 29. Eleven people whose actions touch and improve the lives of those around them were honored. Many of the honorees work in local government such as: Elizabeth Councilwoman Patricia Perkins-Auguste, and from Newark: Deputy Mayor Ligia DeFreitas, Councilwoman Louise Scott Rountree, Council President LaMonica McIver, and Newark’s first African American (1994) Councilwoman Mildred C. Crump.

Other honorees come from various walks of life: Restaurateur and Entrepreneur Adenah Bayoh, Urban League of Essex County President Vivian Cox Frasier, Interfaith Clergy Alliance Coordinator Bishop Ronald Jones, People’s Organization for Progress Chairman Lawrence Hamm, Bloomfield College Women’s Basketball Head Coach Vanessa Watson.
