“Annual Family Fall Harvest & Trunk or Treat”

Roseville Community Charter School

Roseville Community Charter School

Roseville Community Charter School hosted its annual “Family Fall Harvest & Trunk or Treat” event on October 18th to the delight of over 200 of our scholars and their families, as well as other members of the community! RCCS hosts this annual event to celebrate the start of the Fall season and the new school year, but this event is also our first major parent engagement initiative event of the school year! Through this annual event RCCS teachers, administrators, and staff collaborate with parents, setting the standard for active participation in their child’s learning, and showing our parents the importance of a strong home / school connection in helping their children achieve academic and social success! Here at RCCS, we are always focused on our scholars’ success, and we know that engaged parents promote actively engaged scholars, which leads to academic and social success. Thus, finding fun and engaging ways to accomplish this goal is what we do BEST!

Smiles on the faces of the families were an indication of this event’s success! Maybe it was the pumpkin patch full of “pick me!” pumpkins; or possibly the creatively decorated car trunks full of treats; but maybe it was the fact that all trunks were decorated by teachers and parents who volunteered their time and talents that kept big smiles on the faces of our scholars throughout this event! We think it’s the magic of community and the feeling of comradery that makes this event more and more special each year and we know that this event set the tone for the rest of the school year!

Dr. Ledford, Executive Director & Superintendent, expressed her gratitude for the success of this event with a huge shout-out to her Director of Operations, Ms. Nadeisha Greene, and a big thank you to all the staff and parents who volunteered their time, talents, and treats! The “pumpkin patch” was made possible through the local Caruso’s Market!

RCCS Board of Trustees president, Mr. Khalil Nassiruddin, vice president, Dr. Reinaldo Santiago, and trustee Mr. Cesar Vizcaino stopped by the event to enjoy the festivities and to spend time with scholars and their families. A special thank you goes out to Ms. Fuentes (Gr. K Teacher), Ms. Solhir(Art Teacher), Mr. Lebon (Gr. 3 Teacher) and Ms. Torres (Executive Assistant to the Superintendent) for their amazing face painting stations and the beautiful fall
harvest decorations!

Before the end of the event, the winners of the BEST DECORATED TRUNK CONTEST were announced with gift card prizes offered to both parents and staff! Attendees were also able to win raffle prizes and donated bookbags were given out to all scholars in attendance! The creativity shown through the costumes on that day and the amazing trunk decorations are evidence of just how multi-talented this school community is AND of the fact that RCCS is truly A Community of Excellence!

Dr. Dionne Ledford, RCCS Executive Director & Superintendent summed up the day’s eventwith the following quote,
“Teamwork makes the DREAM work, and we thank our parents, teachers, and staff whowork hard every day to make
our scholars’ dreams come true! This year’s Family Fall Harvest success is evidence of what can be accomplished
when a school community works together!
