We are living in unprecedented times. What seems typical is becoming the thing of the past! Since the World Health Organization officially declares Coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic, the world is continuously living in uncertainty. Overnight, our life was turned upsidedown. Borders closed from foreign travelers, business establishments shut down, school empty, and cities worldwide locked down due to the concern of the person-to-person transmission of the novel coronavirus. When fears and anxiety set in, people were desperate lining up for hours in front of the big-box superstores, membership warehouses to stock up the household essentials to no avail. Does it sound too familiar?

Laozi, the founder of Taoism, once said, “Coping with shifting events by sticking to a fundamental principle.” As we usher in a new normal, one will ask, what is that “fundamental principle” that we may anchor amid the perilous time? First, we have to recognize that this world is not normal in God’s sight before the coronavirus pandemic. Have you ever consider the new normal we are encountering, is the norm in God’s plan?

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Eccl 3:1 Pursuing higher education is one of a few items on my bucket list. While pursuing a deeper understanding of the truth, 2019-2020 has been an exciting and unforgettable time for me.

At Pillar College, I was able to couple my life experience with the knowledge I gained from my professors and the members of the cohort. Education and knowledge allow people to learn systematically, think critically, provide solutions effectively. True knowledge is the only knowledge grounded in truth (a belief in God); it can only be found in God. Jesus said, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8: 31,32

I am grateful that Pillar College is one of the only Christian Colleges in New Jersey, the lifeline in the stormy sea, who valued the Judeo-Christian fundamental principles, with truth to educate her students to become the transformational leaders in the new normal!

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. I am blessed and proud to be among the 2020 graduates of the first Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership cohort at Pillar College.
