Answer the Call: Help Us Create a Future Free of Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s disease has quietly crept into too many of our homes, stealing memories, dimming once- brilliant minds, and placing heavy burdens on families. Currently, over 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and by 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million—unless preventive therapies are developed. If you’ve seen someone you love struggle with this illness, you know how deeply it affects not just individuals—but entire generations.
Even as science has made strides in understanding this disease, there’s still so much we don’t know—especially about why it affects some families more than others. The DAWN Alzheimer’s Research Study is working to change that.
Launched in 2022, this groundbreaking research effort brings together Columbia University Medical Center, the University of Miami, Case Western Reserve University, and Wake Forest University. Together, these institutions are working to enroll 13,000 volunteers across the country to better understand the genetic factors that influence Alzheimer’s disease. The goal is simple: uncover the information we need to protect our families and find a path toward prevention, better treatment—and one day, a cure.
Why Your Participation Matters
You don’t need to be a scientist to make a difference. By joining the DAWN study, you become part of something bigger—something rooted in love, service, and hope. Your story, your experience, and your willingness to participate can help move science forward in ways that bring comfort and healing to countless others.
When you volunteer, you help fill a critical gap in what researchers know. Each voice, each sample, each participant is essential. Your contribution could unlock answers that help someone else’s parent, spouse, or sibling. It’s more than a study—it’s a gift to future generations.
Honoring Those Who Came Before Us
We come from a people who have always leaned on faith, on family, and on each other. We honor our elders not just in words, but in action. Participating in research like this is one way we can protect their legacy—and build a healthier future for those who will come after us.
How to Get Involved
Participation is easy. The study involves a brief health assessment and a one-time blood sample, which can
be done in the comfort of your home or at Columbia University Medical Center. It’s safe, confidential, and your time will be respected.
Every person who steps forward brings us closer to breakthrough solutions that could change lives.
