Art Night Out

Newark’s Cultural Heartbeat Lights Up the City

On the evening of Friday, October 10, 2025, the streets of Newark will pulse with light, color, and sound as Art Night Out with The Art Walk, Love transforms the city into a living gallery. From 5 p.m. to midnight, more than 30 venues and hundreds of artists will come together for what is expected to be the largest art walk in Newark’s history—an all-night celebration of creativity and community.

This groundbreaking event is part of the Newark Arts Festival, which continues to expand the city’s reputation as one of the most vibrant cultural hubs on the East Coast. But this year, something feels different. Art Night Out isn’t just an exhibition—it’s a movement, one that invites people to step out of their routines and into the rhythm of Newark’s artistic soul.

At the heart of this monumental evening is Abigail Alabre, founder of The Art Walk, Love, whose passion for curating inclusive, interactive art experiences has helped reimagine how the public connects with art. “We wanted to create something that feels alive,” Alabre says. “Not just an event you attend—but an experience you move through, with art meeting you at every corner.”

Visitors are encouraged to begin their journey anywhere along the route, wandering through galleries, pop-ups, and creative activations scattered throughout the city. With a map provided upon RSVP, participants will explore Newark’s cultural corridors, collecting gallery tags along the way. Each tag is a small token of discovery—part scavenger hunt, part love letter to the city’s thriving creative community.

When the walking is done, the celebration continues at Consigliere, the official afterparty and final destination for Art Night Out. There, participants can exchange their collected tags for complimentary wine and cocktails (while supplies last), surrounded by fellow art lovers, DJs, and a night that promises to end as memorably as it began.

Alabre’s vision builds on Newark’s long-standing commitment to making art accessible and public. “This city has always had a creative pulse,” she explains. “From the murals of Halsey Street to the performances at Symphony Hall, art here doesn’t just live inside galleries—it lives in the people. Art Night Out is about honoring that.”

Among the featured locations are Arts High School, Fern & Fossil, Indigo Residence, Halsey Art Center, Night Fest at Mulberry Commons, The Atelier, Newark Symphony Hall, ArtSpace at Vermella Broad Street, and Ironbound Film & Television Studios, with many more to be revealed on the official map. Each space will showcase local and regional artists working across mediums—from fine art and photography to film, sculpture, and live performance.

For those new to Newark, Art Night Out is a perfect introduction to the city’s renaissance. Once known primarily for its industrial past, Newark is now emerging as one of the country’s most dynamic creative destinations. Its galleries, community studios, and cultural institutions reflect a growing ecosystem of artists and visionaries committed to innovation, inclusion, and authenticity.

Accessibility is also central to this event. Newark residents and visitors alike can take advantage of Via Newark, the city’s on-demand weekend transportation service. Available at the tap of an app, the service provides affordable, flexible rides across the city—ensuring everyone can safely and easily experience every corner of Art Night Out.

The Newark Arts Festival’s Art Night Out is made possible through the generous support of Prudential, NJEDA, NJSCA, Discover Jersey Arts, the City of Newark, the Arts & Education District, FUN, and The Art Walk, Love. Their collaboration underscores a shared belief that art can transform not only spaces but also communities.

Attendees who RSVP will receive their exclusive Art Walk Map via email on Thursday, October 9, guiding them through the full lineup of exhibitions and installations. From 5 to 10 p.m., Newark will belong to the artists, and from 9 to midnight, Consigliere will take the reins—proving that the city’s creative energy doesn’t fade when the lights dim; it only glows brighter.

As Alabre puts it, “Newark is art. Newark is movement. Newark is love.” And on October 10, that spirit will illuminate the night sky—one brushstroke, one beat, and one shared moment at a time.
