Avery Sunshine, born Denise Nicole White on May 22, 1975, in Chester, Pennsylvania, is an acclaimed American R&B, soul, and neo-soul singer, songwriter, and pianist known for her rich vocals and heartfelt songwriting. Her musical roots were established early in life through church choir and piano, setting the stage for a lifelong career in music.
Growing up, Sunshine learned piano at age eight and expanded her musical expertise to jazz and other styles as she matured. She sang in choirs and performed regularly in church settings, experiences that deeply influenced her musical style and emotional expression.

Her sophomore album, The Sunroom (2014), featured the single “Call My Name,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Adult R&B charts and earned Avery and Dana Johnson ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul Song of the Year Award.
Over the years, she has toured extensively in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Europe, and Africa, connecting deeply with fans through live performances. She has also opened for legends such as the late B.B. King and performed on programs like The Jools Holland Show.
