One Brooklyn Health Gospel Choir

Spreading Joy, Lifting Spirits
The One Brooklyn Health (OBH) Gospel Choir shared the gift of song during a holiday tour that included OBH hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
The OHB choir—made up of staff members from the Brookdale, Interfaith, and Kingsbrook campuses—ushered in the season by serenading patients, visitors, and fellow staff, lifting spirits and spreading cheer.
Festive decor designed by Provost Events, a Black-owned event design company, included trees adorned with custom OBH ornaments. The decor brightened hospital spaces while symbolizing the unity of OBH as an integrated health system connecting staff, patients, and visitors.
During the tour, the choir performed beloved holiday classics. Choir members introduced themselves, shared their names, departments, and home campuses—highlighting the diversity and collective spirit of the OBH workforce.
At Interfaith Medical Center, patients viewed the chapel concert via television broadcast directly to their rooms.
“The choir is important for our staff across campuses because it unites us as one body,” said OBH Assistant Director of Marketing, Communications & PR and Choir Director Tahisha Solages. “Together, we inspire healing, motivation, and encouragement through music for our patients and community.”
Recognizing the therapeutic power of music—which has been shown to reduce stress, ease fatigue, and support emotional well-being—the choir made a concerted effort to reach patients unable to leave their beds by singing throughout hospital hallways.
“This i s truly a b l e s s i n g and an honor,” said Beverly Wedderburn, RN. “Bringing the three hospitals together through music, while surrounded by beautifully decorated spaces, reminded me of the unity and joy of the OBH family and our shared hope to bring comfort to patients.”
The OBH Gospel Choir also performs at the OBH Gospel Fest, held annually in October.
In collaboration with Central Brooklyn clergy partners the event celebrates the connection between physical and spiritual wellness.
