Black Excellence on the Global Stage

The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, Inc., (AACCNJ) celebrates Black excellence every day while seeking an authentic partnership with the public, private, and community sectors as a strategy to improve the competitiveness of the region. Our mutual success is a transformational imperative that we seek to coalesce with these sectors of our society.

Since 2007 the AACCNJ has advocated on behalf of 1.2 million Black residents in New Jersey and over 124,000 to establish equitable access to opportunities and resources on behalf of its constituency, as well as convened events, to showcase Black excellence through presentations of value imperatives that align with economic objectives forecasted by public and private sector organizations.

The upcoming FIFA tournament is a great opportunity to witness Black excellence through the talents of players representing countries of the Black Diaspora.

“Beyond the economic windfall, these games present a moment to celebrate an often-overlooked story: the global impact and representation of the Black Diaspora on the world’s most-watched sporting stage.”

From June 19 to July 19, 2026, New York and New Jersey will become the epicenter of global soccer. Millions of fans are expected to flock to the region, with estimates suggesting 1.5 to 2 million visitors, injecting an estimated $3–4 billion into local hotels, restaurants, and services.

Beyond the economic windfall, these games present a moment to celebrate an often-overlooked story: the global impact and representation of the Black Diaspora on the world’s most-watched sporting stage.

The region will host matches featuring athletes from African, Caribbean, and Latin American nations whose populations are part of the Black Diaspora. Senegal’s Sadio Mané, Jamaica’s Leon Bailey, and Haiti’s emerging talent exemplify the extraordinary skill, discipline, and creativity these players bring.

Their presence is not just about goals and assists about visibility. In an era where anti-DEI sentiment is rising and stereotypes about Black communities persist, these athletes counter prevailing narratives simply by excelling on the world stage.

The economic stakes are as tangible as the cultural ones. Local businesses—from small restaurants to global hotel chains—will benefit from the influx of international fans, media, and sponsors.

The event also offers lasting exposure for New York and New Jersey, highlighting the region’s infrastructure, cultural vibrancy, and capacity to host world-class events.

This economic and social showcase underscores that diversity is not just a moral imperative, it’s a driver of growth, innovation, and global engagement.
